Difference In Functionality Of A Manual And Automatic Flow Control Valve

Lot depends on selection of the valve for the proper functionality of the heating and cooling system. Two of the most common ways to control the flow of water to a system are manual and automatic valve where the former is the traditional method and the latter is technological advancement. The difference in the working principle that makes all the difference in the effectiveness and functionality of the unit. While most of the modern units have the advanced method of controlling the flow of water but there may be some with the traditional ones.     

Automatic Valve Operation Method:

The working process of the Automatic Flow Control Valve enables to maintain the required flow rate in the system as per the manufacturer’s specification. This balance can be maintained even if the pressure in the system varies. When other branches modulates, this valve provides stability to the entire system maintaining the overall balance of the system. The unit can therefore achieve the maximum temperature control as per the requirement. Acting as pressure differential regulator with varying load conditions this absorbs any additional pressure changes inside the valve itself. 

Manual Valve Operation Process:

It requires throttling valves to measure the water flow to each branch. According to the measurement of the flow the valve openings are adjusted by the contractor for test and balance. It can help the system balance the flow even during full load conditions, which is not often the case. It is useful for variable load conditions but it is necessary to balance the flow as even the slightest difference in dynamics will make the system stay unbalanced. That is why this cannot be used in and can be used in Acoustic Drainage Pipe that needs a differential regulator.
